Frequently Asked Questions
My shipment was flagged for the red line — what happens now?+
The red line means the goods will undergo both document and physical inspection. The inspection officer opens the shipment and checks whether it matches the declaration; a sample may be taken and sent to a laboratory if needed. At this stage, what speeds things up isn't insistence — it's the declaration matching the documents exactly and any requested additional paperwork being submitted without delay. The timeline depends on the type of cargo, whether a laboratory analysis is required, and how busy the administration is that day.
If the GTİP code was entered incorrectly, can it be corrected later?+
If it's caught before the declaration is registered, correcting it is easiest at that stage. After registration, a correction or cancellation procedure applies; if the issue surfaces after the goods have been delivered, the administration may pursue an additional assessment, and a penalty may follow depending on the circumstances. What determines the outcome is when and by whom the error is detected. For recurring risk, establishing a fixed GTİP decision per product is the most solid approach.
Can you also handle clearance at ports outside Antalya?+
Yes. While our headquarters is in Antalya, we actively operate at the Mersin, Izmir, Istanbul, Gemlik, and Mudanya customs points as well. Which port a shipment arrives at or departs from is usually determined by freight rates and sailing schedules; the clearance side is arranged accordingly.
I want to switch customs brokers — what happens to my open files?+
The transfer is generally handled file by file: declarations already in progress are completed by the current broker, and new shipments are taken over under a new power of attorney. The critical point is the archive — if the declaration, its attachments, and time-limited documents aren't handed over in full, a gap can surface later if a review is requested; how this process is set up is the subject of our foreign trade document tracking service. Before the transition, which files close with whom should be clarified in writing.
When a declaration is signed on our behalf, who is responsible?+
The company subject to the declaration is responsible for its accuracy; the customs broker, acting as an indirect representative, shares responsibility for the declaration as well. That's why the accuracy of the invoice, packing list, and product information provided by the company is decisive. In practice, most problems arise not from the regulations but from incomplete or conflicting information coming from the company.
How long does my customs process take, and can that be predicted in advance?+
Committing to a fixed timeline wouldn't be accurate — the duration varies by the type of transaction. The determining factors are: whether it's an import or export, the mode of transport, the inspection line, whether the product requires a permit or analysis, whether the documents arrive complete from the company, and how busy the relevant administration is. We can tell you upfront which of these apply to your shipment, so the plan is built on realistic expectations.
